About the Role:
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Business Development Manager to join a leading organisation in the FMCG industry. This role is crucial in driving key account management strategies and executing business-critical projects to enhance distribution and trade marketing effectiveness. The ideal candidate will have a strong commercial acumen, the ability to influence stakeholders, and a strategic mindset to drive sustainable growth.


Ok cool, what will I be doing?
  • Develop, manage, and implement key account distribution channel plans, strategy, and trading terms architecture.
  • Build sustainable and profitable relationships with key accounts by driving distribution strategies that deliver commercial benefits.
  • Lead business-critical projects from conception to operational implementation, ensuring alignment with company strategy.
  • Partner with marketing and category management teams to build a category development focus with retailers and establish thought leadership.
  • Develop impactful trade marketing programs and execute market activation plans.
  • Negotiate trading terms agreements with key accounts and ensure compliance.
  • Manage year-end plans at both channel and retail levels.
  • Conduct customer workshops to drive collaborative planning and ensure strategic alignment.
  • Oversee forecasting, sales analysis, and distribution trends to identify opportunities and gaps.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing team through coaching, feedback, and career development.
  • Drive innovation by identifying and implementing new ways to enhance trade marketing strategy and distribution efficiency.

What experience do I need to have?
  • 4+ years of experience in account management, category management, or a similar role within the FMCG industry.
  • Proven people leadership experience with the ability to develop and mentor teams.
  • Strong commercial acumen, with a background in negotiating trading terms and managing key account relationships.
  • Excellent planning, organising, and strategic thinking skills.
  • The ability to analyse data, identify trends, and make informed business recommendations.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management and influencing skills.
  • Experience in trade marketing and distribution strategies, particularly within an FMCG environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to deliver impactful presentations.
  • Resilience, adaptability, and a collaborative approach to problem-solving.
